Hi furious. It's great to meet another young guy who's interested in this hobby :).

Yeah I know, I haven't made any post about the equipment that I have or what kind of music I like best. I think I'll have to shoot some pics of my gear and post something about that, in the meantime, you can also check the forum. I've posted some pics and short descriptions of my gear there. I think the forum over here is very much overlooked, while it really does contain some valuable information on it's own too now :).

As for my music, that constantly changes, my taste in music (as probably everybody else's) is constantly shaping itself. You can always check out my last.fm profile for some kind of info :). I have the profile younghifi on last.fm.

Hi Ramon. First of all, welcome to the club of vinyl collectors :). As for your problem, I personally despise all "all-in-one" solutions in regards to audio gear, but that's only me and I know that many people are more for the comfortable approach. I've heard many good things about the Teac GF350. I also think that the Crosley company also makes such devices, but I can't say anything about them as I simply don't know how are Crosley's vintage-styled turntables quality-wise. I hope this bit of information will help you somewhat.

I think it's a decent turntable. It's not considered as a "superb" turntable, but I also haven't heard anything bad about it. Uses a rather well engineered direct drive motor. What else can I say? Automatic, S-shape tonearm with a headshell (so any cartridge with a 1/2'' mounting will do), independent pitch control for both speeds, a "record size selector" and the so called "memo repeat" feature, which means that you can set how many times (up to 6 or infinitely long) should the turntable repeat playing the record. As for the price, I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it, except if there would be a really nice cartridge added to the offer.

You can find both the instruction manual and the service manual for this turntable over at the Vinyl Engine website. You can find the link under the "Links" page.

As for the cartridge... Well that depends both on your budget and musical taste Les. If I'd have to recommend a rather "universal" choice, I guess I'd mention the Shure M97xE. I've heard many good things about it.
