E-mail stuffs!

Ugh! My website and forum seem to be more dead than alive lately… But alas that’s the how the wheel turns… Now then…

ATTENTION, ATTENTION, TIME FOR A PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT!

I’d like to point-out something really important for both you and me. I really appreciate every comment that I get from you people. I’m the kind of guy who likes to get in touch with people who have problems, some doubts or simply are knowledgeable. That’s why often, instead of replying to your inquiries here as a reply-comment, I write an e-mail reply to you. BUT! Most of you seem to be afraid of typing in your real e-mail address. Why? Probably most of you are scared of spam-bots or other such “web monstrosities”…

Well then let me assure you, right from the start of this here blog I made certain that spammers won’t get to your e-mail addresses. How? It’s simple. Nobody (and no “thing”), but me, the site administrator, can see your e-mail addresses which you leave in the comment fields. The addresses are stored in the blog’s comment database and not somewhere directly on the website, so the spam robots aren’t able to find them.

So to sum things up, I’m not forcing anybody to write your real e-mail address, but if you’d like to get some direct feedback from me (especially when you’re in need of help) then please don’t be afraid to use your real address. That’s all. Thanks in advance!

I think it’s a decent turntable. It’s not considered as a “superb” turntable, but I also haven’t heard anything bad about it. Uses a rather well engineered direct drive motor. What else can I say? Automatic, S-shape tonearm with a headshell (so any cartridge with a 1/2” mounting will do), independent pitch control for both speeds, a “record size selector” and the so called “memo repeat” feature, which means that you can set how many times (up to 6 or infinitely long) should the turntable repeat playing the record. As for the price, I wouldn’t pay more than $50 for it, except if there would be a really nice cartridge added to the offer.

You can find both the instruction manual and the service manual for this turntable over at the Vinyl Engine website. You can find the link under the “Links” page.

As for the cartridge… Well that depends both on your budget and musical taste Les. If I’d have to recommend a rather “universal” choice, I guess I’d mention the Shure M97xE. I’ve heard many good things about it.

Hi Ramon. First of all, welcome to the club of vinyl collectors :). As for your problem, I personally despise all “all-in-one” solutions in regards to audio gear, but that’s only me and I know that many people are more for the comfortable approach. I’ve heard many good things about the Teac GF350. I also think that the Crosley company also makes such devices, but I can’t say anything about them as I simply don’t know how are Crosley’s vintage-styled turntables quality-wise. I hope this bit of information will help you somewhat.

Hi furious. It’s great to meet another young guy who’s interested in this hobby :).

Yeah I know, I haven’t made any post about the equipment that I have or what kind of music I like best. I think I’ll have to shoot some pics of my gear and post something about that, in the meantime, you can also check the forum. I’ve posted some pics and short descriptions of my gear there. I think the forum over here is very much overlooked, while it really does contain some valuable information on it’s own too now :).

As for my music, that constantly changes, my taste in music (as probably everybody else’s) is constantly shaping itself. You can always check out my last.fm profile for some kind of info :). I have the profile younghifi on last.fm.
